Now That's Better

Much better day today.  I'm sure I'll be cussing in February, but this morning was pretty nice.  Rode North on the trail, and turned around and went South to Hoff Rd.  Lots of people on the trail today.  I'm starting to recognize the same people, doing what they do day after day.  Mostly old folks, trying to maintain some sort of stamina.  I even see some gray hairs running.  Good for them....my running days are over.  I'll stick to the bike.
Got my blood test results back.  Cholesterol is 203.  I expected it to be worse.  I have eggs almost every day.  Doctor wants me to give up eggs for awhile.  I love the smell of eggs in the morning!

Here We Go Again

The Club Entrance
Here we go again with the 90's and high humidity.  I'm getting too old to ride in this weather.  Not much going on today.   Staying inside for the most part watching TV.  Watched a movie called Paulie.  About a talking parrott.  Getting desperate don't you think?

Great weather

Finally, the humidity is gone.  Seems that's all I talk about.  I guess when you are riding, one of the most important parts of the ride is the weather, so today was the perfect day to ride.  Going to the doctor at 4:30.  Not a fun afternoon.

Heat Advisory Today

Rule # 1....check the weather before you go riding.  (from my personal trainer, Suz)  So, I went to the gym instead of riding outside today.  There bike does not go anywhere, and it's boring, but it's better than getting heat stroke.  I tried to go outside, but I could not breathe it was so hot and humid.  No big deal, as long as I have the gym to fall back on.  I'm going to hide in the house for the rest of the day.

Never too old

I left for my ride at 7:00 am this mornig.  Rode for about 45 minutes and went by this kids play thing.  No one was there, and I was tempted.  (very bored lately)  Met Butch and Bruce for breakfast at the LA Cafe in New Lenox after my ride.  I'm  now deciding if it's too hot to go to Lakepoint today.  I think it is.

Wild flowers and corn

Had a blood test done this morning, and then I went for my ride.  The man who took my blood was my doctors father.  He's got to be in his 80's and is a doctor himself.  He was great.  Painless as well.  By the time I got on the road it was 10:45, hot and humid.  Not a dry spot on me again today.  Can't wait for cooler weather......with no wind!

To go or not to go

I went.  It was humid, but I decided what the heck.  My sore legs felt better, and as it turned out, it was a nice ride down the trail.  Not a dry spot on me when I got back, but I suppose that's a good thing.  I have to adjust the seat a little as I'm slipping forward a little.  Have no plans for the rest of the day, so I think I'll finsh the book I've been reading.  A Reacher novel by Lee Childs.  I don't learn anything, but it's entertaining.

Sunday morning and still cool out

It's Sunday morning and it's still cool.  72 it says at the bank.  I felt the humidity coming as I finished my ride this morning.  It's going to be a very warm week.  Legs are sore this morning.  Maybe I should take a day off and just walk instead.  We'll see.

Back home

Came back home from Lakepoint yesterday.  Spent about 4 days there.  Rode my bike every day on that damn gravel, but made my way out to the frontage road.  Trouble with the frontage road is that everyone goes about 60 and scares the shit out of me sometimes.  I'm wearing a bright yellow and green jacket that Butch gave me (borrowed from the State of Illinois) to help drivers see me.  The heat is coming back today and the humidity too.  Have to ride early in the morning for another week.  The photo is something I told Suz I could do too!

Longest ride yet

Left for my ride about 8:15 am.  I did my usual route and then decided to go to Ranch Oaks and back.  Really an easy ride.  I discovered a new development that went belly up.  All the roads are in and street lights up, but not a singe house or foundation.  Sign of the times I guess.
